2023/2024.

Attendance requirements:

101K2 + 102S2

ECTS:

6

Study level:

basic academic studies

Study program:

Environmental Chemistry: 2. year, summer semester, compulsory course

Teacher:

Dubravka J. Reliæ, Ph.D.
associate professor, Faculty of Chemistry, Studentski trg 12-16, Beograd

Assistants:

Hours of instruction:

Weekly: three hours of lectures + three hours of labwork (3+0+3)

Goals:

The main goal of the course Atmospheric Chemistry and Air Pollutants is to help undergraduate students acquire fundamental knowledge of the characteristics and behavior of the atmosphere and organic and inorganic pollutants found in the atmosphere. Students also learn how these pollutants enter the atmosphere and how they behave once they get there. The processes of purifying waste gases and sampling and determining the parameters of air quality are particularly significant since they are a part of standard procedures which are used worldwide.

Outcome:

Students are able to use standard procedures, to determine and assess the air quality, which is an important skill for working in laboratories in industry, inspection services and institutes. Students are provided with the necessary fundamental knowledge which they can further develop and broaden if they decide to focus on the field of the atmosphere in the environment.

Teaching methods:

Lectures and experimental work.

Extracurricular activities:

Collecting literature, preparing for laboratory classes, revising for the progress tests and studying for the exam.
