Study programme "Environmental Chemistry"

The study program "Environmental Chemistry" within master academic studies has a workload of 60 ECTS and includes one compulsory course (9 ECTS) and two elective courses (18 ECTS), research study (13 ECTS altogether) and the final thesis (20 ECTS). Within the elective courses students can opt for the courses which they have not taken during their undergraduate studies and/or advanced courses which build on the core courses. Through individual work with a supervisor within the research study and writing the final thesis, students are instructed on how to conduct independent research work.

The planned teaching methods are lectures, laboratory (experimental) classes, practical classes and term papers. Bearing in mind the special characteristics of this study program, laboratory classes include individual work within which students have an opportunity to use the latest instruments and equipment. The Faculty of Chemistry has the latest instruments and they will be available to the students of master academic studies within their training.

The teaching is organized through work with small groups of students and through individual work with a supervisor, while the teaching methods are adapted according to the number of students (consultations, term papers, etc.). A special focus is on experimental work with the elements of research work, which is generally performed through teamwork in research laboratories. The use of computers is planned within all aspects of teaching.
