Syllabus:

I. Metal and metal ions in medicine. 1. Metals of main group of elements. Role and application as metalotherapeutics. 2. Transition metals, role and therapeutic potential. 3. Role and application of vanadium, silicon, gold, cobalt, arsen and bismuth.

II. 1. Application of metal complexes in medicine. 1. Contrast agens in diagnostic. 2. Cisplatin and related anticancer drugs. 3. Antitumor active trans-platinum compounds, polynuclear platinum drugs. 4. Ruthenium anticancer drugs. 5. Antitumor titanium compounds and related metallocenes. 6. Application of gold complexes in medicine. 7. Gallium and other main group metal compounds as antitumor agents. 8. Metal ion dependent antibiotics in chemotherapy. 9. Metal complexes in treatment of tropical deseas. 10. Metal complexes in nitrogen monoxide modulation.
