Research Area

The subject of the group's research is the organic substance of sedimentary rocks and organic and inorganic pollutants in soil, recent sediments, in surface and groundwater. Within organic geochemistry, crude oil, bitumen and kerogen of coal of different degrees of carbinification, bituminous shales and Neogene sediments are mostly investigated. Also, the mineral part of the sediments and their influence on the thermal changes of the organic substance are examined.

Within environmental chemistry, the emphasis is on petroleum pollutants and heavy metals, including the development of monitoring systems and various means to monitor the fate of pollutants in the environment.
