Past and Future Meetings and Workshops
The European Meeting on Environmental Chemistry (EMEC) is organised annually on behalf of ACE. It is held in early December and comprises a broad range of topics within the field of environmental chemistry, with interdisciplinary presentations very welcome. The EMEC meeting always attracts high quality science presentations and keynote addresses from internationally-renowned researchers in environmental chemistry and related fields. Of course, social aspects are not neglected and there is a strong social and cultural programme running alongside the science. Check the Association homepage for updates.

EMEC Scholarship
Invitation for students to apply for an EMEC meeting scholarship funded by ACE
Beginning in 2015 the Association for Chemistry and the Environment (ACE) offers meeting scholarships for MSc and PhD students to participate the annual European Meeting on Environmental Chemistry (EMEC).
The objective of EMEC conferences is to bring together scientists from diverse fields such as atmosphere science, biology, geology, industrial chemistry, medicine, soil science, ecotoxicology, green chemistry, remediation techniques and water science. In this spirit, the EMEC meeting scholarship shall motivate early career scientists to participate and shall facilitate an international scientific exchange of PhD candidates and early-career scientists (up to 5 years after the PhD defence) during the meeting.
The scholarship covers the conference fee and additionally travel as well as accommodation costs of up to 500 €. The deadline for application for EMEC meetings in December is generally 01. August.
Candidates should send an application to the Scholarship Officer, Dr. Nuno Ratola (nrneto@fe.up.pt). The selection of up to three candidates will be based on past academic achievements (scientific publications, participation in funded projects, etc), the relevance the proposed abstract and national quotas. The application has to include:
- Abstract to present at the conference
- Curriculum Vitae
- Current enrolment certificate
- Letter of recommendation from a supervisor
