WORLDWIDE AND OUR
EXPERIENCES

About the Project

The intense development of human civilization has led to drastic environmental threats, where the amount of generated waste exceeding the capacity of nature for self-remediation. Therefore, it is necessary to act and appeal on prevention, but also to perform constant monitoring with follow-up remediation in order to heal the nature. Only in this way we will enable so desired sustainable development of human society and reduce the threat to the next generations.

Faculty of Chemistry, VINČA Institute and Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy of the University of Belgrade have a great pleasure to invite you to a seminar and workshop entitled:

Environmental Protection - Prevention, Monitoring and Remediation - Worldwide and Our Experiences

The two-day seminar is intended for researchers, students and representatives of commerce and civil sector, and here the renowned experts from Europe and Asia will present very important up-to-date topics from the field of environmental chemistry:

  1. Uptake mechanism of persistent organic pollutants by plants and its application to phytoremediation and crop safety (Hideyuki Inui, Japan)
  2. Non-target analysis with high-resolution mass spectrometry for environmental samples (Atsushi Yamamoto, Japan)
  3. Congener specific analysis of PCB in environmental and human sample (Takeshi Nakano, Japan)
  4. Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in the environment: case studies (Begoña Jiménez, Spain)
  5. Plastic and microplastic pollution: detection, identification, quantification (Vladimir Nikiforov, Norway)
  6. Ecohydrology and ecohydrological biotechnologies as environmentally friendly remediation approaches for contaminated ecosystems (Magdalena Urbaniak, Czech Republic)
  7. Emission of hazardous organic compounds during informal electronic waste recycling in Indian cities: Atmospheric transport models and human health risk assessment (Paromita Chakraborty, India)

Within the project, a workshop on modern techniques for monitoring, environmental forensics and bioremediation studies will be organized for selected researchers and students of doctoral studies.

This project is supported by the Ministry of Environmental protection of the Republic of Serbia, through Green Fund for Promoting Educational, Research and Development studies and Projects in the field of Environmental Protection.
